Highlights
This release adds two big building blocks to octoja: Custom Software Packages, so you can ship your own installers to devices alongside the built-in package sources, and tag rules, which automatically apply tags based on inventory criteria. Remote desktop sessions now accept files dragged directly from your computer, octoja can sync customers, devices and monitoring events with Woasi, and the login screen carries your brand and mascot front and centre. The rest of the release focuses on quality — clickable system tiles on the device overview, pending-update badges on the dashboard, a richer set of report widgets, and fixes for several long-standing inventory and reliability edge cases.
New
- Custom Software Packages — Upload your own installers, define how they should be installed and roll them out to devices alongside the built-in package sources — now fully localized in German, available directly inside the Add Software dialog next to the other package sources, and able to track a “latest” version so configuration packages stay current as you publish new versions.
- Tag rules — Define rules that automatically apply tags to devices based on inventory criteria, with a live preview of which devices match before you save.
- Remote desktop drag-and-drop upload — Drag files directly onto a remote-desktop session and they land in the signed-in user's Downloads folder.
- Woasi integration — Connect octoja to Woasi to share customer and device inventory and forward monitoring events, so both platforms stay in sync from a single integration.
- Branded login screen with mascot — The login screen now shows a branded panel with the octoja mascot, centered on the panel seam by default — administrators can upload their own mascot image or turn it off entirely in the branding settings.
- Public IP per device — Each device's public IP address is now captured when its agent connects and shown on the device detail page, with a tooltip telling you when the address was last seen for offline devices.
Improved
- Pending update count on the dashboard — The dashboard's device table now shows a badge with the number of pending operating-system updates per device, linking straight to that device's updates tab.
- Clickable system tiles on the device overview — The system tiles on a device's overview page are now clickable: the operating system, processor, memory and identity tiles open detailed views, the security tile jumps to the vulnerabilities tab, and the disks tile scrolls to the disks table.
- Tidier device detail tabs — The separate Users tab has been removed and local users now appear at the bottom of the System tab.
- Refreshed live charts — Live charts on the device detail page have a refreshed look: an animated glow indicates fresh samples and you can click any chart to expand it for a closer look.
- Redesigned assignment rules tab — The assignment rules tab in the configuration package editor has been redesigned for a clearer layout, with the save button and danger zone always visible at the bottom regardless of which tab you are on.
- New Checks widgets in the report builder — The report builder now includes a dedicated Checks category with six new widgets so you can put check success rates, status histories, timelines and individual check details directly into your custom reports.
- Add report widgets to the top or bottom in one click — When building a custom report, you can now add a widget directly to the top or bottom with a single click instead of dragging it into place.
- Simple SNMP mode for custom checks — Custom checks have a new simplified mode for monitoring network devices via SNMP: instead of writing a script, you fill in a form with the values you want to read and the thresholds that should trigger a warning.
Fixed
- No more phantom drives in disk health checks — The disk health check no longer reports failures for empty card readers or disconnected USB drives that the operating system still remembers; it now only flags real drives the system can actually read.
- macOS drive inventory cleanup — On macOS device inventories, duplicated drive entries and disk-image mounts no longer show up as physical drives.
- Disabled accounts highlighted in the User Audit report — In the User Audit report, disabled local accounts are now visually highlighted in the table so they stand out at a glance, matching what the report's introduction promises.
- Alphabetical customer and site order on the dashboard — Customers and sites in the dashboard are now sorted alphabetically instead of by the order they were created.
- German drive count on the device tile — On the German interface, the drive count on a device's disks tile now reads “Laufwerk” / “Laufwerke” instead of the English word “Drive”.
