Currently, under “Monitored Device” for a network device, only a single device can be selected—one that monitors, for example, a router, switch, or other network device.
It would be helpful to make this feature more flexible.
Ideally, users should be able to either:
select multiple devices simultaneously as monitoring devices, oroptionally use all or suitable devices belonging to a customer for monitoring.
This would mean that monitoring would no longer depend on a single device. For example, if a laptop is turned off or unreachable, the customer’s other devices could still check the status of the network device.
An automatic mechanism that uses an available device belonging to the customer for the respective check would be particularly useful.
Goal:
Network devices should be reliably monitored without the monitoring being permanently tied to a single one of the customer’s end devices.
