Scan multiple routed subnets using a central scanner

A central octoja scanner should be able to actively scan multiple freely configurable IPv4 subnets, provided it can reach them over the network.

Example: The scanner is located in the production network and is also intended to detect devices in the printer, VoIP, or IoT VLANs without requiring a separate scanner to be operated in each VLAN.

Currently, the active scan searches the scanner’s local subnets. Devices from its ARP table can also be detected via an SNMP gateway. However, this does not replace an active scan of the desired target networks.

The desired configuration is:

  • Define multiple target networks as IPv4 CIDR ranges, for example, 192.168.20.0/24 and 192.168.30.0/24.

  • Actively scan these networks using a central scanner.

  • Be able to incorporate discovered devices into the inventory and monitoring system as before.

Routing and the necessary firewall permissions remain prerequisites.
