I'm currently using a custom PowerShell check I created myself on a Windows device with the octoja agent to connect via SSH from there to another device—in my case, a Securepoint UTM—and retrieve various pieces of information.
The Securepoint UTM is also set up as a virtual device in octoja. I would like to assign the custom check to this virtual device so that the results and status are displayed directly on the firewall.
However, to the best of my knowledge, only certain predefined checks—such as SNMP checks—can currently be used on such virtual devices. Custom PowerShell checks cannot be selected because they require an agent to be installed on the respective device.
Desired Feature
It would be helpful to be able to distinguish between the monitored device and the execution device for custom checks:
Monitored device: e.g., the virtually created Securepoint UTM—this is where the check is assigned and the result is displayed.
Execution device: e.g., a Windows Server with the octoja agent—this is where the PowerShell script is actually executed.
Example
Securepoint UTM (virtual device)
→ Custom checks and results are assigned to the firewall
Windows device with octoja Agent
→ Runs the PowerShell Custom Check
→ Connects to the Securepoint UTM via SSH
This would allow custom checks to be used even on firewalls, switches, NAS systems, and other devices that do not support the installable octoja agent, while still being assigned to the correct device in octoja.
